What will you do?

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer who can quickly step into an existing codebase, take ownership of complex embedded software components, and contribute immediately to ongoing projects, including work on new terminal hardware. The initial focus will be on delivering high-quality embedded software independently. You will join a team of around 8 team members in a hybrid working environment near our office in Rotterdam.

Who are we?

The R&D department is responsible for developing the full technology chain behind the financial solutions, from the embedded software on payment terminals, through the APIs connecting them, to the portals used by clients. This department handles everything end-to-end to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient payment experiences. The role focuses specifically on the embedded systems within this chain, developing the software that runs directly on our terminals’ hardware. This involves working with real-time systems, hardware integration, and resource-constrained environments. You will work closely with teams managing APIs and portals to ensure seamless operation across

the entire platform

Vereisten

You have experience with embedded software and can quickly find your way in existing code. You work independently, are structured, and enjoy solving complex problems. You might not tick every box, and that’s fine, motivation and learning ability matter too.

  • Programming languages: Good experience in C, C++, and some exposure with GO is considered a plus.

  • Platforms: Deep knowledge of Linux embedded platforms and experience working close to hardware.

  • Software development: Strong skills in requirement analysis, system design, and building complex software builds.

  • Domain knowledge: Understanding of payment schemes and financial transaction processing is beneficial.

  • Other skills: Ability to quickly onboard and adapt to existing codebases, and good communication skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Work environment: Familiarity with hybrid working setups and willingness to work near the office.
